2009 Territory Day Fireworks

NT WorkSafe has approved GIO General Limited to provide workers' compensation insurance to the Northern Territory market as of 30 June 2008. First annual mesothelioma report released

The Australian Safety and Compensation Council (ASCC) has released the first annual mesothelioma report: Mesothelioma in Australia Incidence 1982 to 2004, Deaths 1997 to 2005, March 2008. This follows a unanimous agreement in May 2007 to improve the collection and dissemination of information on mesothelioma in Australia. The new AS/NZS3000:2007 was released on 12 November 2007, replacing AS/NZS3000:2000. It will not become mandatory in the Northern Territory until 12 May 2008 giving time for all electrical workers and electrical contractors to become fully conversant with the standard. Compliance with the new standard is mandatory under the Electrical Reform Act of the Northern Territory. More
