Safe Work Australia Week
25 to 31 October 2009 is Safe Work Australia Week.
In 2008/09 there were over 3300 claims for workplace injuries and six work-related fatalities in the Northern Territory.
All Territorians, whether you’re an employer or a worker, are encouraged to get involved and focus on health and safety in the workplace.
Workplace safety is everyone’s business.
Get Involved
There are a number of ways your workplace can get involved in Safe Work Australia Week.
Host a morning tea
Take time out during Safe Work Australia week to host a morning tea at your workplace and consider the following activities.
- Discuss incidents which have occurred in your workplace to see if additional information or training is required.
- Plan a workplace clean up. The cyclone season is approaching, is your workplace prepared?
- Review your health and safety policies and procedures. Does everyone know what to do when there is an emergency?
Two powerpoint presentations are available that you can show at your morning tea.
The two topics covered are:
Tradies Breakfast (Friday 30 October 2009)
The Northern Territory Code of Practice for Induction for Construction Work will be adopted on Saturday 31 October 2009. Territorians who work in the construction industry will now be able to carry out training and apply for a construction induction card that is recognised across Australia.
Grab some breakfast at the following locations and find out more about the NT construction induction cards.
