Workers Compensation

A worker is entitled to compensation for any personal injury or disease, or an aggravation of an injury or disease that occurs:

  • during the course of employment;
  • by any accident arising out of employment; or
  • on a journey to or from work, except if the accident involved a motor vehicle.

If someone is involved in a motor vehicle accident travelling to and from work, they can make a claim under the Motor Accidents Compensation (MAC) scheme, which is administered by the Territory Insurance Office.

The NT WorkSafe Workers Compensation Claim Form is the only approved form for lodging a workers compensation claim in the Northern Territory. In the event of a work related injury or disease, an employer or worker should download this form. Both the injured worker and the employer must complete the claim form by following these instructions
