General Induction Training (for construction work

Construction workers in the Northern Territory are required to undertake induction training delivered by an approved RTO. Workers, who complete induction training in the Territory, will be issued a ‘white card’ as proof of their training.

RTO’s can receive approval from NT WorkSafe to conduct training and issue a white card to successful course participants.

To apply for approval a RTO must have on scope the following unit of competency:

  • CPCCOHS1001A – Work safely in the construction industry.
Applications should be made using the Application for RTO to distribute NT White Card form.

Health and Safety Representatives

Health and Safety Representatives (HSR) are a position established under the Workplace Health and Safety Act. HSR’s are employee’s who have been elected by their fellow co-workers to represent them on health and safety matters.

HSR’s have powers under the legislation and are entitled to receive approved training.

HSR training is not based on a national unit of competency.

RTO’s who wish to deliver HSR training are required to develop their own course structure based on learning outcomes developed by NT WorkSafe. This course structure will then need to be approved by NT WorkSafe. Other criteria have to be met before a RTO receives accreditation from NT WorkSafe.

RTO’s seeking accreditation to delivery HSR training should contact the Director of Business Improvement on 1800 019 115.
