An asbestos removalists is a person with a licence issued under Regulation 17 by the Northern Territory Work Health Authority with approved qualifications to safely remove asbestos in accordance with the code of practice Safe Removal of Asbestos 2nd Edition NOHSC 2002 (2005).

A restricted asbestos removalist licence is required for the removal of greater than 10m2 of Non Friable Asbestos and a asbestos removal licence is required for the removal of any amount of friable asbestos.
